Environment

The RDO has formed eco-clubs in 60 schools and regularly organizes exposure trips for the rural students. The activities include planting trees, setting up herbal gardens, and constructing toilets. Also, the RDO organized a 200-km walk to promote the campaign against the menace of plastic bags in the Nilgiris.

The RDO, with the active help from NABARD, launched the ‘Green Panchayat Project’ in the Nilgiris. Varied topics such as waste management, hygiene, sanitation, the evils of drinking alcohol, water and soil conservation, and the importance of forests, were covered under the project.
