Sanitation and Health:

RDO is actively engaged in helping the rural people to build household toilets. Thanks to the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unique program Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), the sanitation program of RDO assisted 68000 families in building household toilets in the Nilgiris through women SHGs and without engaging contractors. With the collaboration of FINISH (Financial Inclusion Improves Sanction and Health), RDO  has built 1.2 million toilets in ten states across India, and in recognition for its efforts, it received a prestigious award from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

ODF +Faecal Sludge Management

Under the Securing Water for Food (SWFF) program, RDO is producing compost from human waste.  Twenty percent compost produced from human waste is mixed with eighty percent wet waste, duly tested, and distributed to the vegetable growers at an affordable price of Rs: 6000 per tone.  We would like to thank Mrs. J. Innocent Divya IAS, Collector of the Nilgiris for her excellent support in making the program a grand success.  The Ketti Resource Recovery Park (KRRP) where co-compost is being produced has become an educational hub for Faecal Management.  A large number of government officers, university students, national and international NGOs are visiting the center to learn the simple but effective process of Faecal Management.

“Happy World Toilet Day. 68200 household toilets are constructed in Nilgiris and helped the Nilgiris administration to achieve ODF. 3000 Toilets are being built in Karamada block with the help of ITC. 1.2 Million toilets are built in 10 states with the collaboration of FINISH Mondeal.”
